Approximately, 3 months ago I was introduced to King Krule. I love hearing new sounds and I have an open ear for young talent. This man shown (above and below), is no different. King Krule is only 19 yet projects his voice for universal ears of all ages. Last minute, luckily, getting a ticket to see Krule at the Bowery Ballroom ensured me it was going to be a night to remember.
Prior to the show, for weeks, I would constantly listen to Krule nearly everyday. Shockingly, never getting tired of him. (I really feel the kid is in a league of his own and it's hard for me think of other artists to compare him to). Anyways, heading to Bowery, I was more excited to get a feel of who this guy is behind the music, since he seems to be a little mysterious off the mic.
A few songs in to his set and it was evident Krule's vibes transcended the entire venue. Whether nodding and shaking their heads furiously or singing every word they remembered, it was clear everyone was having an awesome time.
Hearing music live especially the tunes you've been, well, studying for quite some time sounds so much nicer. Krule has a certain texture that goes with his vocal projection, that makes you feel almost every word he's saying. You almost always forget that he's only 19.
Leaving the venue, I still feel I didn't learn more about him personally as he talked very little between songs (which was fine with me). Sometimes what's lesser-known is better. It only adds to his mysterious nature. Leaving only his music to be deciphered and analyzed a little more in-depth.
